My Birthday Dinner 2024

My daughters have been planning a birthday dinner for me for weeks.
They gathered shells at the beach last week to use as table decorations
and bought me a skirt to match the whimsical beach theme.
After church, I was instructed to go into my room and
not come out until they said, so I read and napped.
And really enjoyed the after-church quiet.
While the girls cooked and prepared in the kitchen,
I could hear them talking, laughing, and listening to their music.
It made me so happy.
Occasionally, I would hear them yell,
"Gigs, we neeeeeed you againnnn."
Then, a few minutes later, I'd hear him come down the stairs
to do whatever it was the girls needed him to do;
pick up something heavy or high to reach.
He was playing his part in Mom's birthday dinner.
Claire was in charge of the decor, and Jane was in
charge of the menu.
Lottie helped with both.
A little white gift was on my plate, a beautiful nautical crown
that I wore throughout dinner.
Jane made:
Grape Salad with Brown Sugar Glaze
Tomato & Halloumi Salad
Gnocchi with Brussels Sprouts and Sweet Potatoes
Corn & Zucchini Salad
AND the best part was she made a Dr. Pepper chocolate birthday cake
with adorable cherry candles.
It was delicious!
We sat and talked while Angus lay at our feet and Kitty
roamed the table, licking up scraps.
Soon, the miracle came:
Rain.
The stillness of the dark, heavy clouds was abruptly shattered by the sudden
 eruption of thunder and lightning.
Then, the rain poured down from the sky,
the wet earth smelled heavenly.

Best. Birthday. Ever.
Best. Kids. Ever.

Welcome To The World, Beesley!

This morning, we discovered a new calf had been born,
probably in the early hours of the morning.
A healthy, adorable baby bull whom we named Beesley
after Andrew because it's his 40th birthday today.
Good job, Mama!
I feel such pride and love for these strong mama cows who
walk around the blazing heat with their udders practically
dragging on the ground.

Nine Weeks

The girls and I came home from barre and found Kitty on the porch
waiting for us.  She literally jumped into Claire's arms.
She's the cutest thing I've ever laid my eyes on.
(Claire is, too!).
Then, we tried to determine how old Kitty is based on her teeth.
She's probably about eight to nine weeks?

Later, I discovered why Kitty was so clingy.
Angus squeezed his way through the back porch door where Kitty's food
and water dish was, and he ate ALL OF HER FOOD.
Then he continued to rip open the cat food bag
and he devoured all of that, too.

Forty Three, I Like Me!

 Today, yours truly turned 43.
Happy Birthday!
43
43
43
It's wild to think where I was when I turned 33!
( Living in FoxHill in Provo, Utah)

And 23!
(Living in East Brunswick, New Jersey, with 2.5 children)

And 13!
(Headed into 8th grade at Dixon Middle School
in Provo, Utah)
And 3!
(Living my best life in Provo, Utah, I'm sure!)

But let's focus on just 43.
Where I am living the most amazing life in Pittsboro, North Carolina
with four of my five children.
I've grown so much.
I like where I am.
I like what I believe in.
I like my life.
I like me.
Say it with me:
FORTY THREE, I LIKE ME!

This morning, I went to a Barre class with my girls,
we sat on the front porch playing with Kitty,
and the Nies gifted me with a beautiful painting of
a hen gathering her chicks.
I love how the Savior compares Himself to a hen who bravely
gathers her chicks to safety from evil.
I've always loved that imagery.
There are five chicks in the painting.
My five chick Nies.
My heart!
What a beautiful, thoughtful gift from my chicks.
Christian took such good care of me for the rest of the day.
We went out, got treats, went shopping for some
new exercise clothes, and went to a movie (Quiet Place.  I LOVED IT).
The one thing I can say about my life is;
I AM LOVED.

Text Me When You Get Home

Today was our last day with Page, and
us gals all hit a 7:00 am Barre class together.
Her first Barre class.
We went home and lay around until noon, when we
packed Page up and headed to Culver's for a late lunch.
(Seven Harvest Veggie burgers, please!)
The stars lined up, and our favorite doctor and friend, Craig,
happened to walk in at the same time,
he was grabbing lunch before his shift,
so we all ate together.  Perfect!
After my accident, Page relied on Craig, who was our good friend but also
in his medical rotation in the burn center.
He would keep Page and my family updated on our conditions.
It was a HUGE blessing that Craig was around during that time.
God is in the details!
He is so good!
And so is Craig.
I was emotional dropping Page off.
I was so grateful she came out, and we had some time
together to talk, sort, and work on our relationship.
My kids love her, and she genuinely loves my kids.
I'll see her soon when I drop the girls off at school in August.
I love that my girls will have her close.
She's a great aunt, listener, and support.

I yelled to her as she was wheeling her suitcase in the airport,
"Text me when you get home."
"I will, Stephy!" She yelled back.

Old Photos

Today's activities included looking at old photos
on Page's phone, including:
1. Me, probably 10 years old, after a horse show
in front of Page's house in Provo.
2. The girls and my Mom before my brother,
Andrew's wedding in 1996.  I was 15:
3. Courtney, Lucy, and me in our kitchen.
I love the four gallons of milk on the counter.
Typical kitchen scene in the Clark home.
I was 17, with my trademark short hair:

4. Me, age 9, Lucy, age 6, and my Mom at Page's wedding
 in Salt Lake City, Utah:

Later in the afternoon, we went swimming at our favorite secret water spot
in all of North Carolina!
We spent the rest of the evening jumping off the
dock and floating around in the 80-degree water!

We got home in time to see Gig's NEW (old) car!
He's saved up for this beauty for years!
Congrats Gigs!
(DRIVE SAFE!!  My mommy heart is dying).
