Proc Week day 1.

I am proud to present:  Nie's "Proc Week".
"Proc" is short for "Proclamation," which refers to the amazing document:
The Family: A Proclamation To The World.
Each day this week, I am taking a paragraph
of this inspired and beautiful document to write a little bit about it.

Our dear Prophet and President of

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,
Gordon B. Hinckley announced this important document to the members
of The Church in September of 1995.
The words that make up the proclamation have shaped my little family
and have inspired Mr. Nielson and me to be better parents to our four children.

I am pleased and honored to follow and observe this proclamation.
~Day 1~
Mr. Nielson and I decided that Mitt Romney is our choice for President in 2008.
Romney said this:
'The work that goes on within the walls of a home is the
most important work that is ever done in America. ...
And if we want to strengthen America,
we need to strengthen the American family."
****
Yes, Mr. Romney, I do agree!

His values line up with ours, which line up with what the
 Proclamation states.
So a few days ago, we had a party celebrating Mitt,
and we invited family and friends over to the Lazona Estate to join us.

The Romney for Presiden campaign sent us a

"Mitt Romney Party Kit," which included some awesome Mitt balloons,
stickers, buttons, documents, and information about his views.

Before our guests arrived, Mr. Nielson and Oliver put balloons
out front of our house to welcome our guests.

Go, Mitt, Go!

Barn Smooches

Mr. Nielson, the kids, and I (and Jimmy)
went to New Mexico over the weekend.
We went to the Nielson ranch where
Mr. Nielson turned into Mr. rancher Nielson.
He's really good at it.
I'm really good at watching him work, reading magazines on the front
porch swing, early morning runs around the
sprawling 9000 acres, and I am really good at
grabbing Mr. Nielson to slip away with me into
the barn to smooch for a few minutes.

It was altogether bliss, especially this particular afternoon
when it rained and thundered so loud it shook the windows.
(I wish I could describe how good it smells after the rain.)

The visitors

It was so wonderful to have my parents come to
the hottest place on earth= ARIZONA!
My dad was so cute to turn into "Lemon Drop" the horse and let
Claire and Jane ride on his back
while Oliver pounded his toy guy on the top of his
(probably sunburned) head.
But doesn't Umi look so rested on the couch
with Nicholas on her lap?
After Umi and Gramps left for home in Utah, it was nap time.
Everyone (except me and Nicholas) fell asleep.
Later I started dinner and Mr. Nielson came home from work.
He took (a now very crabby) Nicholas from me and together
they fell asleep outside on our porch swing.
Judging from this photo, it looks like it was pretty toasty outside:

Mother's Day 2007.

Happy Mother's Day to me, my mom, and you!
Here I am with Umi (my mom) and my children, minus Ollie
who was probably riding a stallion with a Jim Craig hat in dreamland.
 Aka: napping in his bed.

PS...it's 110 degrees here in Arizona today.
Blahhhhhhhhhh
My dad and Nicholas. ((Are they related or what!!))

It was so fun to have my parents here visiting us
in the Lazona Estate, especially for Mother's Day!!!

I love being a mother.
It's what I was born to be and do!
Claire gave me juicy fruit gum for Mother's Day
 (pictured in her mouth) and
she and Jane ate every piece in one sitting.
Boy, I feel so loved!

Welcome to the Lazona Estate Mom and Dad!

Today Claire sat down at my desk to write welcome notes for
her much-awaited guests: my mom and dad (Umi and Grandpa).
Earlier, I took the kids to the store, and the girls helped me pick out some
flowers to put in their room (aka my office with a bed).
I picked fresh orange leaves from our tree to add to the sweet bouquets.
The best part of Umi and Grandpa's visit so far has been when
Umi accidentally walked in on Mr. Nielson in his birthday suit.

There I was, lying in bed nursing Nicholas, when I heard a loud gasp
by Umi, followed by a noisy (nervous) laugh by Mr. Nielson.
Then I heard my dad lecture my mom over oatmeal and toast at breakfast.
Dad: "Just stay in your room, don't wander around in their private rooms, Cindy!"
Mom: "I was just looking for Oliver; I've never been inside this house before, STEVE!"
Dad: Well, just don't go to the bathroom in the morning".

I Had the Vision!

I found this bookshelf on the
side of the road when we lived in New Jersey.
Mr. Nielson was just delighted when I casually mentioned at 9:00 PM
after the children were in bed, that I had found a
bookshelf that I really, REALLY wanted and that
it was sitting on the side of the road only a few blocks away!
Mr. Nielson put on his jacket and uggs and like a wonderful
husband left in the dark New Jersey night to pick up
the dumpy old bookshelf for me.
When he opened the door twenty minutes later carrying it
in the house, he looked at me and wondered why I wanted this
sad, old, and crusty piece of furniture.

I told him  I had the vision.
With a nice coat of white paint and some really
awesome heavy-duty wrapping paper glued to the back,
it turned it pretty amazing.
Just call me Martha!
