Back to School Feast 2022-2023 "I Am a Disciple of Jesus Christ".

Tonight we celebrated our 2022-2023 BACK TO SCHOOL FEAST
and theme reveal!
Our theme for this year is found in The Book of Mormon
in the third book of Nephi, chapter 5, verse 13:
"Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
I have been called of him to declare his word among his people,
that they might have everlasting life."
The Nielson's are officially a missionary family;
Claire returned home from Brazil last month, Jane in Portugal,
and Ollie's mission pending (January!), we are practicing what we preach:
sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ with you, our
friends, neighbors, and strangers...everyone!
I had gold keychains made with
"I am a disciple of Jesus Christ" inscribed on them.
This is a good daily reminder of the promise we made to the Savior
when we were baptized.
I love this year's theme that Christian and I agreed on and picked for our family.
I love pondering possible themes with him
months before we host this beautiful dinner for our Nies.
I love having personal and spouse scripture study
to find what the Lord wants to share with our family for the year.
It's always so special and beautiful.
Dinner:
Cornbread Panzanella
Crispy Brussels Sprouts
Grilled Salmon with paprika and parsley sauce
Classic rolls
And, a nod to Claire, Brazillian frozen lemonade.
For dessert, we enjoyed watermelon and cantaloupe macaroons
surrounded by fresh raspberries on top of a gooey chocolate
Swedish Kladdkaka and ice cream, of course!
After a fabulous dinner and even better conversation,
we left the table and walked around Stillestead.
We're so thankful for this property and the hand of the Lord, who orchestrated people in our paths to make this happen.
There are good things on the horizon for us, and we know
that if we follow the Savior, His teaching, and commandments,
come what may, we will be okay.
I know our family is getting older, and these family tradition
dynamics are changing.  It's all good change, but it's so SO bittersweet.
I'm grateful we continue these family events together.
They keep us close together; they teach us to love and trust each other,
especially the Savior and His plan and teachings.
My boys are good sports at wearing their crowns-
if only for a few photos...
(a BIG thanks to Gigs, who is not a fan).
