Connecting

Jane and I made vegetable soup for dinner tonight she
learned to master in her cooking class.
While we cut up vegetables, she told me about her friends and school
and the end of the year testing.
We also discussed our plans for Cinco de Mayo on Friday,
attending a new school in New Mexico,
and what our summer plans look like.
I listen and occasionally add a few thoughts to the conversation.
I have learned that connecting with each of my children happens in different ways,
and I can connect best with Jane while we are cooking and preparing food.
Jane will be a wonderful homemaker one day.

And our soup was delicious.
