Welcome, Minnie!!

Miss Minnie Maloy Nielson was born today,
January 21st, 2026, at 3:21am.
7 pounds 1 ounce, 19 inches.
Brown hair and beautiful.
Named Minnie (my "mini- ME") and Maloy, after my Nana, Aurora Maloy.
After the delivery, I took a quick shower and was then wheeled to
a recovery room, where I'd be for the next few days.
Christian slept on the couch nearby, and Jane and Lottie
left the hospital around 4:30am.
Jane needed to be at the studio for work at 8:45, and Lottie had school.
They promised they'd be back with dinner later that evening.
It wasn't until around 4:45am that everything was quiet,
But I couldn't sleep a wink.
I stared at Minnie all night long in pure amazement,
and I felt overly exhausted and still running on adrenaline.
I just couldn't believe it.
I have a baby.
A beautiful, healthy baby girl!!
Christian stayed close to my side on the couch, snoring away.
I couldn't have been any happier.
I really couldn't have.
Nursing was easy, and she latched on quickly.
I think we'll make a good team.
Around 7:30am, our friend, Dr. Mangum, made a visit before his shift in the ER,
bringing us hot chocolate and donuts for our first breakfast with Minnie.
He looked over her perfect little body and chubby face,
congratulating us with hugs and tears.
As promised, Jane and Lottie came back to the hospital bringing dinner
with them.  They took turns holding Minnie and reliving her birth story.
It was such a magical day, one none of us will ever forget!
Several nurses and a few doctors stopped in to check on the baby and me,
telling us how Minnie's birth was a highlight of the Labor and Delivery floor
for many working that shift.
Awwww.
