The Marriage License

 Wow.  Just wow.
Today was a wow day.
So very busy.
The boys got an early start on the lawn.
It's go time, as today is really the last day before the wedding.
It looks so good, and everything is coming together nicely.
I wish my hydrangeas would blossom a little more, but other than that,
everything is looking beautiful.
Well, except we ran out of time to stain the porch
and make the cool giant swing in the tree.
Those will have to be later-in-the-summer projects.
Honestly, if you had told me that a few weeks ago, I would
have put my foot down, but since I'm pregnant, I honestly
don't care about it too much.  It's probably a blessing.

Claire has always been obsessed with this painting
by Norman Rockwell
"The Marriage License"
And she wanted to recreate it.
So this morning, Claire and Nate went to the courthouse to get their
very own marriage license.
So cute!
So my cousin, Kimberly Simmons, in Salt Lake, who is a fantastic seamstress,
dolled up a white dress Claire had found at a Vintage
shop in Mesa.  She also added a little blue heart inside the dress
for "something blue".  Claire's wedding dress has a blue heart too,
but the heart was a drawing I had done, and my dear friend,
Stephanie Court embroidered it on the hem of the dress.
We're all about sentiments around here!
Including the pearl clutch that belonged to my Nana Aurora,
which I carried on my wedding day in 2000, and that Claire
will carry on her wedding day, along with Nana's handkerchief,
my pearl bracelet and earrings.

Later, Claire was our guest instructor at Barre3.
She taught a fun (and patriotic) class, and everyone went.
Except me. I haven't moved my body in weeks.
When I do, I throw up.
No thanks!
I have so many emotions that I just keep pushing
away.  I can't think about them right now.
It's just too much.

I made her a little hair bow with a veil in blue (her colors).
Her cute in-laws came to the class, too!
THEN, Claire raced home to take her Bridals with the one and only
Justin Hackworth!!!!!  Soooo grateful he came to document this
most important event in the Nielson home!
Her photos were absolutely breathtaking!
I made her a bouquet from the flowers in my garden.
That was a precious moment for me.

Finally, after a full day of working, we were sitting around the dinner table,
tired and exhausted after just finishing a delicious meal that Jane had made.
And I looked out the window and saw Gig's goats wandering around the backyard.
I panicked, WHY WERE GIGS GOATS IN THE BACKYARD?!
We all ran outside and discovered that somehow the gate was open,
and the goats got out and ate ALL MY BEAUTIFUL SUNFLOWERS
and chopped off new Hydrangea buds.
I cried and then died.
NOT BEFORE THE WEDDING!  NOOOOOO!
I believe I am overly emotional for several reasons.
In the morning, I pray I'll still feel good enough to pull out the
chomped sunflowers out of my garden.  It looks like
Stranger Things happened.  It looks so bad.
Then I put myself to bed.
