Goodbye Dinner for Jane

This evening we celebrated our Jane at a goodbye dinner before
she departs the country on her mission to Portugal.
I made her favorite roasted corn and salmon salad with a giant
charcuterie board with nuts, fruit, chocolates, cheeses, and olives.
She made a delicious loaf of grain bread, her last for a while.
She also made extra dough for pizza and other breads
and stocked them in my freezer.  It should last me a few months,
then I'll have to start making them again.
(Oh, now I'm crying).
For dessert, I also made a Nielson classic, our favorite chocolate cake.
We chatted around the table until the sun went down, then moved
into the living room and helped Jane put her clothes into her suitcases.
We stayed up with her all night, packing, laughing, and crying.
At 3:00 am, she jumped into the shower, got dressed, said a said
sleepy farewell to the other Nies, then Claire, Christian, and I
drove her to the Raleigh airport to
Her plane departed Raleigh at 6:00 am,
which meant we needed to be up at 3:00 am to be
at the airport by 4:30.
We all stuck together and pulled an all-nighter.
I can't believe we're here already!
