This is the word that describes Chapel Hill right now: POLLEN.
I have never seen anything like it.
The pollen creates a yellow dusty haze around the city,
and when the wind blows the trees shake the pollen encircling
it with thick dust; practically making the tree disappear entirely.
It's an allergy nightmare.
It's kind of eerie too.
It covers the cars, streets, and houses
with so much pollen/dust, it looks like ancient Pompeii.
This evening it began raining and now it looks like yellow
chalk is being washed off sidewalks and roads.
But the dogwood tree blossoms are the prettiest
things I ever did see:
