218

I hike the Y mountain every weekday.
I look forward to this activity every morning- it's my happy place.
I have been hiking this mountain since I was 16 years old.
The mountain and I have a special bond, it's inspiring
and reminds me that I have a capable body.
It reminds me of who I am, what I can do, how far I have come,
what my mission is, and what I am able to accomplish in this life
regardless of pain, disabilities, and failures that I face.
The mountain is a reminder that I am strong and powerful.

On January 1, 2015, I began counting how many times I hiked the Y.
218 times was my final count on December 31st, 2015.
Monday-Friday (not counting holidays, vacations, and sick days),
Here is what it looks like each month from the top.

I think BYU should ask me to make a calendar.
Other favorite notable Y dates:

-I hiked the Y on my 16th birthday.
-As soon as I got my license the first thing I did was hike the Y. (After taking my car in the car wash).
-I had my first kiss on the Y when I was 16.
-I hiked the Y the day Jane was born (I think it helped start my labor).
-After Mr. Nielson and I moved away, hiking the Y was the thing I missed most about home,
and the first thing I did when I came back.
-I set a goal in 2008, right after my accident to hike the Y on the one-year anniversary of the accident.
-Beginning in Spring, the Little Nies and I hike the Y together every Friday after school.
