This morning, Minnie and I accompanied Christian in the pasture while
he immunized and castrated two new bull calves.
Minnie stayed in the car snoozing away, and I helped keep the new
very nervous mama's from knocking down the fences to get to
their babies. I was a very nervous mama, too.
I was scared they would kill me.
Then we drove to the sale lot where we sold two other cows
who, unfortunately, after 3 months of trying to get pregnant, did not.
In the cattle business, that's bad news.
It seems cruel, but Christian assures me it's just business
and they will be used elsewhere.
I think because I'm a new mama, I see everything in a different light
because we mamas are trying our best.
I got Minnie out of her seat and let her kick in the sun while we
waited in the parking lot in our car for our turn to drop the cows off.
I took off Minnie's diaper, and she had an impromptu sun bath.
The warm sun felt lovely in the car.
It's still pretty chilly outside.
