Right here, right now

Today while helping Claire with her end-of-the-year homework and assignments,
I heard yelling from the window.
Down below, near the garage, was Ollie commanding his troops:
(Gigs, Lottie, and cousins Freddie and Hal).
"You think this is funny Private?  Well, it's not!"
 and
"Wipe that smirk off your face, Private;
you're not with Mommy anymore."
Ollie's boot camp was happening, and it was serious business.
My favorite part was when he took his little cadets on the trampoline for some
real combat training and fighting.
Among his brave soldiers were: Gigs, cousins Freddie and Hal, and of course
Charlotte "Call-sign Charlie." (Do you know what movie that is from?).
Of course, it was all just fun and games, and then I felt an ache in my heart.
Oliver would be graduating 6th grade in the morning.
How long will he play like this?

I moved into the kitchen to start dinner, and out my kitchen window, I watched
as the five little soldiers were pretending to parachute out of pretend airplanes.
Then the delicious scent of Russian Olive trees wafted in my window,
and I was content and happy at that moment.
I have some big changes coming, and right now,
I am enjoying my children,
my home, my life, the swimming pool,
and savoring every second of it
right here, right now.
