Big Deal.

Today in the pouring rain, I ran some errands.
First stop was to the dry cleaners.  I ran (in the rain...remember)
from my car to the store and was informed that since the
Memorial holiday, all pick-ups were backed up.
They would call me when the clothes were done.
I hope that phone call comes soon since Mr. Nielson's dark suit
is needed for this weekend.
I got back in the car and went to the post office to pick up
my mail and found out that that Mr. Nielson
had picked up the mail earlier that day.
Strike 2.
Strike 3 was at the grocery store where I forgot half the things on my list and
"blindly" bought what I thought I needed.
Turns out it I didn't need any of it.
Last stop/strike: the bread store where the delicious fresh bread
was still baking in the oven.
So I bought yesterdays bread.  I know, I know, Big deal.
Except fresh bread is sooooo good.
I thought as I drove home--still in the rain and empty handed,
that every woman has probably had a day like this and you'd probably
high-five me because you've had a very similar day at one point in your life.
And these little things really aren't that big of a deal.
Inconvenient yes, but not that big of a deal.
Then I thought about my friend Lindsay who recently lost her husband.
That's a big deal.
There are SO many more bigger deals.
Today was not a big deal.

I am honored to be a part of the World Congress of Families this year.
