Thankful

This was me in first grade.

During Thanksgiving season,  I always reflect on what I am most thankful for.
This year, I keep coming back to my childhood.
I had an amazing childhood.  I was happy, safe, clothed and fed.
I had brothers and sisters, and parents who loved each other and me.
I was hugged, and loved, and kissed, and read too.
I shared a room and a bed with my sisters, I had drawer full of paper dolls,
and enough picture books to keep me busy for hours.
I am thankful for these memories--for those days.
These early days molded me into the woman and mother I am,
and I am happy with that.
I have so much to be thankful for, but today I think about that
strong stable home and family life I was privileged to live.
It has kept me grounded in my hardest moments and kept me going.
I wish this for each child I know, but particularly
the children that God gave me.

Happy Thanksgiving.
