I've got my love to keep me warm

Tonight we are picking out our Christmas tree.
I suggested to Mr. Nielson we get a potted
spruce so after the holiday we can plant it in the yard of our new home.
He liked the idea- the children not so much.
I hope we can compromise.
I'll probably just mention to the children that we are going to be
getting hot chocolate at Starbucks after, and they will all be just fine.
One of my favorite parts of the season is seeing
Christmas trees in windows of homes.
It's so cozy and festive and it makes me happy.

Last night after the children were all in bed, and it was dark and
quiet outside Mr. Nielson and I went on a walk.
The roads were packed with snow and the air was so brisk and still.
It was pretty late and we didn't see anyone else out,
but we did see happy Christmas trees in windows.
We also saw colored lights glowing on roofs and trees
buried under a very thick blanket of white snow.
Mr. Nielson and I held hands and walked up and down our cute neighborhood.
We talked about our Christmas plans.
We talked about our new home
(which we could see on the hill as we walked the roads below).
We talked about our children and how glad we were that we belong to each other.

Then we made our way to our home.  It was dark at our home.
No Christmas tree in our window, or lights.
It was such a bummer.  I hope we can remedy that tonight.
But no matter:
"I've got my love to keep me warm
Off with my overcoat, off with my glove
I need no overcoat, I'm burning with love!
My heart's on fire, the flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm!
What do I care how much it may storm?
Oh, I've got my love to keep me warm "
-Irving Berlin
